Arse’lor Mittal

So it seems that whenever I have sums of dough to dump around, oppertunities arise. BP, Telkom’s unfortunate share price drift to davy jones’ locker and now the gamadoelie with ArcellorMittal and Kumba. For those that DON’T know, A.M is just the largest steel company in the world… and recently, with the ties they have to Saldanha Steel [mine] (outside the obvious scope of this post), things are probably oppertunistically placed for me. The risks have been weighed, as was with the whole BP shananigans (and I stil say fkyou for that oil spill and untotalled ecological mayhem), and I decided to dump some cash into ArcellorMittal shares, not too much, just enough to see what plays out. As I see it, the deal will level out at some point… Kumba needs a client, AMSA needs the ore, and karma will deal with the situation accordingly, if we may add some fate to a economic recipe. All those people can’t lose their jobs, and a great system can’t be kept its knees for much longer… So there goes my money, and hopefully it pays off…

And on the note of arsing about, I’m tired of smelling of smoke, when I don’t smoke. Smokers annoy me to no end, weird creatures of habit…

HDR in 1m45 Seconds

Ignoring tonemapping, and overkilling, and turning your photo into a cartoon like surreal sideshow, I tried to see how quick I could generate a high dynamic range image, from five photos I have taken in the Swartland area last weekend. I used only opensource (and/or freely available) applications; Hugin (Enblend/Enfuse) and gimp (to tune the curves a bit). I didn’t do any special tweaks, I merely selected my five candidate photos, and dragged and dropped them on the enfuse icon, then took the output image and tuned it’s curves in the Gimp…

That’s it…

I used these five images:

And the final result, after barely 2 minutes of work, was this:

You may note, and criticize that I haven’t followed due procedure. True, The five LDR exposures aren’t evenly seperated, nor do they cover the whole spectrum, but what is due procedure anyway in art, and even more importantly, why is it needed for a under-2-minutes opensource hdr demo?

Be as it may, I think I achieved my point. It CAN be done, and it looks great.

IFP wins

Since the DA is powerless against the royal game, and since the ANC is a joke with their racist circus spawn, I think I’ll vote IFP next time round.

After reading the latest news from uncivilized circus sideshow, here ( http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/ANCYL-to-vandalise-Cape-Town-20100525 ), I decided that there is no point in us normal people, who contribute to the growth of the country to get pissed off, you will always have the ANCYL, and you will always have barbaric morons who strike and burn trains and you will always have retarded white oxygen deprived dumbshits who makes you wonder how the hell they got a license… So just laugh it off.

My reason for saying the IFP wins though, is that they identified Malema’s little problem, or big one?

That is what it will take to rid the world of governments who ban corporal punishment, african workers who think they can strike for any reason, drivers who all ahve licenses, but cannot drive anymore, youth league members who break down toilets hours after they were built, criminals, gangsters, snobs who think they can run every show they point at, cynics and greedmongers, BP oil and every other annoying asshole on the planet.
