Nexuiz; First Person Quake Eater

While I am a big fan of Quake3,I am the first to admit that its godliness is now void. It is over, and I hardly ever play it anymore. Recently in my quest to find a replacement, I stumbled upon something new… Nexuiz. Yes I know Sauerbraten (Most of you might know it by the name CUBE) is out there, but SB fufills a different “quick fun” fps need for me. Nexuiz however, replaces Quake in my head. Very few people know about Nexuiz, which is a shame indeed, and it is highly overlooked when it comes to games. I think one of the reasons for that is simply because it is opensource, and your typical brainwashed corporate moron will read opensource as “free”, a la “broken”. Far from it.

Nexuiz is fast, has all the effects and hardware supportted features you can dream of ( I love the reflection in the thundering rain on some maps). There is nothing about it that isn’t completely awesome. While there is a stunning network play mode (which is probably what it was made for), the single player is already much cooler than Q3′s bots. I’m not going to say alot more, I am definitely not doing a review… but I am making this post in the hope that more clueless folks will hear the name, and perhaps google it, and check it out. Opensource and free(dom), and available on both Linux and Windows.

CHECK OUT THE NEXUIZ WEBSITE

And then offcourse, some of my screenshots, which I did in a hurry…

Some more screenshots will appear in my screenie library over time…
